Biography
KELLY, PATRICK, merchant, dealer of spirits, and farmer; b. 17 March 1846, son of John Kelly and Sally Woods, both of Ireland; m. 22 August 1876 Mary Jane Hynes, and they had two children, Margaret (Margory) and Florence; Roman Catholic; d. 2 August 1916. Kelly, a Conservative, was elected to the Legislative Assembly in a by-election held 29 March 1904 for 3'1' Kings. He was defeated in the general election of 1904. A farmer and a merchant, Kelly resided in Montague. He may also have lived for a time in Charlottetown, as a Patrick Kelly was listed in the 1881 Census. There was a Patrick Kelly listed as a farmer in the Montague area in Meacham's Atlas and in the 1891 Census. Patrick Kelly died 2 August 1916. Mary Kelly was born 2 May 1856 and died 4 January 1932.
