Biography
CURRAN, THOMAS AMBROSE, farmer and carpenter; b. 28 April 1904 in Elliotvale, son of John F. Curran and Jane O'Halloran; m. 12 October 1938 Lauretta Power, and they had seven children, Mary S., Jane, Frank, Anna, Rita, Cathy, and John J. (predeceased his father); Roman Catholic; d. 19 April 1997 in Charlottetown. Curran, a Conservative, was first elected to the Legislative Assembly in the general election of 1959 for 3rd Kings. He was re-elected in the general elections of 1962 and 1966. He was defeated in the general election of 1970. Curran was educated at the Baldwin Road Rural School. He took over the family farm after the death of his parents, and continued to work as a farmer and carpenter. He was involved in a number of church and community organizations. He served as a director of the Kings County Memorial Hospital and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Thomas Curran died 19 April 1997. Lauretta Curran predeceased her husband.
